Dive Resort

Oneta is a small family run eco-resort on one of the most untouched and beautiful islands in Fiji. It is very remote, it’s a little wild, and it’s somewhat hard to get to – but that’s exactly the point. Hidden away on an island with no roads, Oneta Resort is one of the few places in the world where you can still find both quiet solitude and true adventure.

+ Location + Access

Ono Island is part of the Kadavu Archipelago and lies just northeast of the long island of Kadavu. It’s the outer island of the outer islands and getting there is a fun adventure in itself.

Most guests arrive at the international airport in Nadi and then fly straight on to Kadavu. We are happy to assist you with all your travel arrangements. Once you land in Kadavu you will be greeted by resort staff who will take you by boat to the resort. It is about an hour boat ride from the Kadavu airport to Oneta depending upon weather. It is a beautiful trip down the length of the island of Kadavu, across the Kadavu passage, and then around to the west side of Ono Island.

THE BURES

Beachfront Bures

The two beachfront bures are just short walk from the main lodge.  Both have high-pitched soga palm roofs and private decks facing the beach.  They are shaded by greenery and fruit trees but have a clear view of the ocean that is only a short distance away.  Each of these bures also has an en suite bathroom and a bamboo-enclosed outdoor shower with plenty of hot water.  Sit on your porch and enjoy an afternoon drink as you count the fish jumping in the ocean.

Deluxe Two-Bedroom Bure

The newly renovated two-bedroom deluxe family bure is designed with a family or larger group in mind.  The two semi-private king bedrooms (sliding barn door between them) allows you to choose how much privacy you want.   It has a large living room/dining room area with a beautiful teak daybed and large en suite bathroom with two semi-private stalls.  The  two spacious outdoor enclosed showers accessible from the porch allow a quick shower after a day on the water before entering.

THE VILLAS - Located on the north side of Oneta Beach, two luxurious villas sit on a small bluff in this secluded area of the resort with lovely views of the ocean and their private beach area.  They each have their own WiFi available inside and are located near the Oneta beach side massage bure.

Villa Levu

Villa Levu is actually one of the largest houses in the Kadavu Archipelago. The villa features beautiful high ceilings and mahogany floors in the three bedrooms and the living room, plus two comfortable bathrooms,.  One features a large soaking tub and the other, a beautiful outdoor shower.  Unexpected luxury awaits here amongst the untouched natural splendor of this outer island.

Villa LaiLai

A beautiful large deck with a lovely ocean view surrounds the two-bedroom Villa Lailai.  Built into the deck is a plunge pool filled fresh from our spring.  The Villa is located just a couple of steps down to the beach. Each of the two bedrooms in Villa Lailai has a king bed.  There is a shared elegant living room as a cozy place to relax and a shared bathroom with shower.

All bures and villas are well appointed with quality European sheets, fine cotton Turkish peshtemel towels, and all natural bathroom products.
All rooms have quiet three-speed ceiling fans, but please note there is no air conditioning anywhere on the island.
Also please note that all electricity at the resort is 110 volt with U.S. style plugs and we have universal adapters for those that need them.

+ Food + Beverage

Nightly rates include all meals. Daily meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are served family style at the lodge but if you request a private romantic table that can be arranged too.

The main lodge is the central hang out spot for the resort. It’s got a bar, games, books, and free WIFI and there is always a staff member present to answer any questions you may have. At night they often screen movies there and it’s also where they drink Kava, discuss the adventures of the day, and play guitars.

+ Activities

There are many fun activities to do around Oneta and Ono Island. Kayaks, paddle boards and a Hobie Cat are available for guests to use. For those with more paddling stamina longer day trips on outrigger canoes can be arranged with Paddlefiji. There’s a beautiful hike on the uninhabited island of Vatulutu with spectacular views of the Naiqoro passage, and a more comfortable waterfall hike on Kadavu.

Snorkeling is great around the local reef and even better out at the amazing Astrolabe reef. Giant manta rays frequent a nearby area and several different kinds of whales migrate right by the resort.

Diving is another big reason why people come to this area of the world and to Oneta. The Astrolabe Reef is one of the largest reef in the world. It stretches for countless miles around the Kadavu Archipelago. There are fish here that you cannot see anywhere else and hard and soft corals come in all different kinds of colors.

Fishing - If you’re going after GT, Wahoo, Mahimahi, Dogtooth Tuna, or Yellowfin Tuna, they’re all here around the reef. Guests can rent whatever equipment they need including high end fishing gear. Highly experienced fishing guides are happy to accompany you.
